Sponsorship

We warmly welcome your interest in the Village Building Convergence!

The Village Building Convergence (VBC) is a 10-day process of urban renewal that starts in late May. The Village Building Convergence demonstrates a growing commitment to strengthening local relationships through various interactions throughout the event. Abiding by the The City Repair Project’s mission of community-based education, it is a call to organize and recognize our local communities in developing our city and bioregion and celebrating our interconnectedness and powerful voice.

This event has opened a platform for a diverse community-inspired spaces, including: Community accessible benches; Neighborhood information kiosks; Street intersection murals; Outdoor classrooms for schools and other organizations; Permaculture-based plantings and food forest gardens; Urban rainwater runoff bio-swales. Throughout the nine years the Village Building Convergence has been in existence the creation of these community-accessible spaces have been shown to:

Create closer-knit communities and personal relationships.
Develop a sense of commonality and ownership to the affected areas.
Promote sustainable building as well as sustainable living and other related activities.
Improve neighborhood safety and reduce crime.

There are several reasons why VBC is a powerful event to sponsor

  • Our work is about making Portland more sustainable and supporting neighbor collaboration and outreach. Communities participate from all over the Portland Metro Area from NW to SE, our current farthest-reaching projects being Oregon City and Hillsboro. Your donation will be advertised at VBC’s evening events where, during the 10-day event, the communities, as well as those with an interest in VBC, come together to celebrate the hard work put into the projects. We begin every night with a well-prepared dinner and reflection of the day’s activities. Respected speakers, from the Northwest and beyond, open the evening affairs with intensive talks on VBC-related subjects such as permaculture, community design and other sustainable activities. The release comes from dancing the night away to a wonderful array of planned musical guests.
  • With over a dozen sites coming together in the evenings, your business will be recognized as a generous supporter of VBC through different medias explained below. We reach a broad audience of diverse interests. Over 2000 people are expected to connect directly with VBC this year as well as outside audiences from Oregon and abroad.
  • Sustainability and community relationships are the rootstalk of VBC. For businesses and organizations that support these ideas, this is the perfect opportunity to connect with local consumers and create relationships to support your business in the future.
  • VBC is primarily and intrinsically planned, designed, organized, built and run by volunteer-power. Without generous donations, VBC would not be possible.

A local phenomenon with a global effect!

Since the inception of this vision many cities have adopted and are continuing to adopt the model created by The Village Building Convergence. These cities include: Asheville, North Carolina; Montpelier, Vermont; Santa Fe, New Mexico; Montpelier, Vermont; Los Angeles, California; and Seattle, Washington.

We appreciate your interest in sponsorship of the 10th Village Building Convergence. We are happy to answer any questions you have about sponsorship or the Village Building Convergence.
